Adaptive Clothing India(10 products)
Adaptive clothing is everyday clothing redesigned so that getting dressed does not require the movements a body in recovery cannot make. No stepping into trouser legs. No lifting arms overhead. No fastening small buttons with stiff or trembling fingers. Aasra is India's first adaptive clothing brand, and this is our complete range.
Who adaptive clothing is for
Most people discover adaptive clothing on the day someone comes home from hospital. The surgery went well, the discharge papers say "avoid bending past 90 degrees," and the family suddenly realises that no garment in the cupboard can be put on without breaking that rule.
Our customers are usually one of four people:
- A patient recovering from surgery who has been given movement restrictions for six to twelve weeks
- An elderly parent whose grip strength, shoulder mobility or balance has quietly declined to the point where dressing has become the hardest task of the day
- Someone living with a long-term condition such as Parkinson's, arthritis, or the after-effects of a stroke
- A caregiver who is dressing another adult daily and needs it to take two minutes instead of twenty
How adaptive clothing actually works
Every garment we make uses one of three opening systems, chosen according to which movement the wearer needs to avoid.
Side-opening lowers. Trousers, pyjamas and shorts that open along the full length of both sides with velcro. The garment lays flat on the bed, the legs are placed inside, and the sides close from the outside. Nobody steps in, bends forward, or lifts a leg. This is what makes dressing possible after hip and knee replacement, and what lets a bedridden patient be changed without being sat upright.
Front-opening uppers. Nighties, kurtis and shirts that open from neck to hem so the garment wraps around the body rather than being pulled over the head. Essential after shoulder surgery, mastectomy and chest procedures, and for anyone who cannot raise their arms.
Access panels. Discreet side openings positioned for catheter bags, surgical drains, dialysis access and stoma pouches, so equipment can be managed without undressing.
All closures are wide velcro, not buttons or zips. Velcro closes with a flat press of the palm, which means it works for hands affected by arthritis, tremor or one-sided weakness after a stroke.

Fabric and why it is always cotton
Everything is 100% cotton. This matters more than it sounds: post-surgical skin is sensitive, incision sites react to synthetics, and most of our customers are wearing these garments for sixteen hours a day through an Indian summer. Cotton breathes and washes repeatedly without hardening. Washing instructions, including how to stop velcro clogging with lint, are on our fabric and care page.
Sizing
Patient nighties are available from S to 3XL. Pants, shorts and kurtis run from M to 2XL, covering waists from 32 to 40 inches and busts from 36 to 44 inches. Full measurement charts for every garment type are on our size guide.
If the wearer has had surgery in the last six weeks, order one size larger than usual. Post-surgical swelling is normal and adaptive clothing is designed to be loose. If nobody in the range fits, we make custom sizes to measure.
Our velcro is rated for over 10,000 open-and-close cycles, because a nighty that is changed three times a day for two months is opened more often than an ordinary garment is in a year.
